CO2 laser tube fault identification and the method about how to deal with

1. Engraving depth is not enough

The engraving is not deep at the beginning of the work, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem.

1Check if the support point of the laser tube is reasonable;

2Current set is too small or not

3Optical path is offset or not

4Focal length is correct or not

5The surface of lens and mirrors have scratches and dirts or not

6The flow rate and flow pressure of the cooling water are normal or not.


The problem of insufficient engraving and cutting depth appeared, after the machine worked for a while.

1Check if the support point of the laser tube is reasonable;

2The water temperature is normal or not

3The lens is hot or not during work

4The flow pressure of the cooling water is normal or not

5The cooling water is clean or not


2. High voltage ignition and discharge

1Check if any dirty or humid around high voltage end of co2 laser tube

2The laser tube is too close to metal part of laser machine or not

3The high voltage connection device of the laser power supply is detached from the support or not

4Check if any contact defective or open circuit in laser power internal high-voltage connections.

5The water temperature is too low to cause condensation on the pipe and the water jacket


3. Laser tube broken

1 Cooling water temperature must be 15 to 25 degrees. The cooling water can be frozen in cold area to cause co2 laser tube broken from inside

2The laser tube must be supplied with water

3Water pressure is too low

4Whether the water flow follows the principle of low-in and high-out or not, the water cooling pipe is not full of water and is partially heated.


4. High voltage discharge and breakdown

1The power supply does not match or operates with a different specification of power supply (using a high power supply to excite low power laser tube). Exceeding the rated voltage that the laser tube can withstand, causing damage to the laser tube

2The water cooling condition is not good, The cooling water is not filled with the entire water-cooled tube and there is a bubbles, which resulit in local temperature is too high where there is no water cooling, causing partial damage of the laser tube glass.

3It is the influence of temperature, raw materials, process, etc. during the production that causes microbubbles or uneven thickness in the glass tube, which will cause weak position of tube damage if high voltage discharge,


5. Instructions of using a laser power supply to detect faults

The following test methods can be used if the appearance of the laser tube is not damaged.

1The laser power supply has the detection function. With power supply in the stand-by mode, press the test switch of power supply, the laser light is on and the laser tube give out laser beam. If the laser light is off, the laser power supply is broken; If the laser light is on, the laser tube doesn’t give out laser beam, which means the laser tube is broken.

2The laser power supply does not have the detection function. The signal ports 5V and IN of the laser power supply are connected by wires; the three ports of L, P and G are connected. After the laser power is turned on, the current is above 10mA, at this time, if the laser tube has no laser energy output or the laser energy output is weak, which indicates that the laser tube is broken; if the current is below 10 mA, indicating the laser power supply is broken.
