Storage and transportation CO2 RF lasers

Before storage the rf co2 lasers, drain out the water in the waterway. Once the waterway is drained, compressed air must be used to totally dry the waterway and prevent any small amount of water to remain in the laser waterways. In cold weather, a small amount of water can freeze, and may cause up to irremediable damage to the rf co2 lasers.

If you need to carry the rf co2 laser, please use the original laser packaging box. If the box is lost, please contact SPT Laser to purchase a new one.

Attentions

Announcements

1. Since the peak current required by the rf co2 laser will directly affect the lifetime of the self-purchased/self-made DC power supply, it is recommended to use a DC power supply with high stability. The power input shall be a single-phase AC with a voltage range of 100-240V and a voltage range of 50-60Hz. In order to ensure a good grounding, it is necessary to connect the negative pole of the output terminal of DC power supply to the ground reliably. In addition, if the connecting cable between the laser head and the DC power supply exceeds 3 meters, the negative pole of the power supply terminal on the laser head needs to be reliably connected to the ground.

2. Because the rf co2 laser tube has strict requirements on the range of input voltage fluctuation, in order to avoid damage to the rf laser due to excessive voltage fluctuation, it is recommended to use the over-voltage protection circuit at the input end of the rf laser power supply.

3. If the user chooses a low stability DC power supply, the DC power supply must have sufficient current and instantaneous voltage adjustment ability.

4. When connecting the rf laser power supply, the connection should be based on the specifications of the label at the back end of the rf laser. The positive pole of the rf laser power supply marked “+” must be connected to the positive output of the DC power supply; the negative pole of the rf laser power supply marked “-” must be connected to the negative output of the DC power supply. The maximum cable length required for laser DC power supply is 45 cm. When connecting the cable, the cable between the DC power supply and the laser can be twisted into a strand, which can reduce the mutual inductance between the terminals.

5. The rf laser shell and DC power supply must be well grounded. If they are not or poorly grounded, there will be excessive noise, which will directly damage the rf co2 laser tube.

6. When testing DC power supply, first measure its multimeter (measuring voltage) and oscilloscope (measuring ripple size) under no-load condition, and then measure it with rf laser load (full-amplitude output of laser) in order to confirm that the DC power supply (voltage and current) is conforming with the rf co2 laser tube requirements.

7. When connecting the cable terminals with the electrodes on the laser, do not exert too much force. Excessive twisting force will cause irreparable damage to the RF amplifier in the laser. For other details, please refer to the product description.

External cooling system of rf laser tube

Since the actual output power of the rf laser tube only accounts for about 10% of the RF power generated by the internal RF amplifier, the other power is basically converted into heat. In addition, other electronic components in the rf laser tube will generate a lot of heat under operation. Therefore, the heat generated by the laser must be effectively transmitted and transferred, otherwise the components in the laser will be damaged due to heat accumulation and high temperature. The laser takes heat away through an external cooling system (air/water cooling) provided by the user.

Cooling System Reqirements:
1. The rf excited laser tube uses air-cooled heat dissipation. Users must install heat dissipation fans to prevent instability or damage to the rf laser tube caused by overheating. There must be at least 2 cooling fans, and the speed of a single fan must be greater than 250CFM (about 7.1 cubic meters per minute)
2. The cooling fan should be symmetrically mounted on both sides of the rf co2 laser tube. The distance between the fan and the rf laser tube should not exceed 1cm. In order to ensure that the rf co2 laser tube has good heat dissipation performance, the air flow must be blown vertically into the radiation grooves on both sides of the rf laser.

Requirements for external cooling system of rf co2 laser

Flow rate of cooling water at the laser’s outlet (minimum): 5.7L/min

Cooling water temperature range: 10-35 ℃

Intake pressure (laser inlet): 205-520 kPa

Hardness of cooling water (equivalent to CaCO3): <250mg/L

Pressure difference: >170kPa

Carrier heat: 2.5kW
PH value: 5-9

Particle size: less than 200 microns in diameter

About the sealing label function on the rf laser tube’s surface:

Each rf excited laser tube has a sealed label. Please take special care to protect the sealed label. If the sealed label is damaged, the laser will not be able to receive proper maintenance service.
