Liquids have a "freezing point". When the temperature of the liquid is lower than this "freezing point" temperature, it will solidify and form a solid. During the solidification process of deionized water or pure water, the volume will increase, which will "break" the pipelines of the water cooling system. and damage to sealed connections.
Taking the glass laser tube as an example, if the temperature of the water cooler is too low, it may cause the water cooler to malfunction and the pipeline to freeze. In order to avoid damage to the laser, output head, and water cooler caused by the solidification of the cooling liquid, we provide you with the following 3 solutions:
1. If there is absolutely no local power outage, the water cooler will not be turned off at night. At the same time, to save energy, the low-temperature and normal-temperature water temperatures are adjusted to 5 ~ 10°C to ensure that the coolant is in a circulating state and the temperature is not lower than the freezing point.

2. Empty the cooling liquid in the laser, laser output head, and water cooler after use every day.
- Use the water cooler to actively drain before shutting down;
- Drain the remaining water through low-pressure air;

3.Use antifreeze as coolant.
Antifreeze must be used when the environment has frequent power outages and the conditions for emptying the coolant every day are not available. The base liquid of antifreeze is generally composed of alcohol and water. It requires high boiling point and flash point, large specific heat and conductivity, low low-temperature viscosity, not easy to foam, and does not corrode metal parts, rubber hoses, etc. When selecting or preparing antifreeze, its freezing point should be 5°C lower than the lowest temperature of the use environment.
When choosing antifreeze, use a professional brand of special antifreeze and do not use ethanol instead. Otherwise, damage may occur!
It is recommended to choose the CLARIANT brand of antifreeze. There are two types of antifreeze suitable for laser systems:
1) Antifrogen®N (industrial supplies)
2) Antifrogen®L (food grade)
The addition ratio is 3:7 (3 is antifreeze, 7 is water). After adding antifreeze, it can withstand -20℃without freezing.

In order to ensure that the waterway for adding antifreeze is smooth, first ensure that the water tank is clean:
1) Drain the used water, clean the inner wall of the water tank and filter, add clean water to rinse to wash away the stains;
2) Remove the filter element water cup, clean the water cup and replace the filter element (pay attention to whether the filter element water cup has a sealing ring and do not lose it);
3) Any antifreeze cannot completely replace deionized water and cannot be used for long periods of time throughout the year. After winter, the pipelines must be cleaned with deionized or purified water, and the use of deionized or purified water as coolant must be resumed.

If the laser cutting machine is not used for a long time, any place where the cooling water passes, especially the cooling water inside the laser tube and in the pipeline, must be completely drained.
Extremely cold weather will cause irreparable damage to the optical part of the laser.
